On the biology of research or why we often overlook the potential of a thing
In the sculptural discussions of Kaja Clara Joo (*1991), the oldest metal in the world, copper, meets modern aluminum. In a joint dialogue, these reflect on functions imposed on them as well as homesickness. Always immanent seems the desire to return to the ores of the earth and to elude any form imposed on them. The practice of artistic creation is set against that of performance as well as work. Traces of narratives are opened up via repetitive craft and shaping. Passive matter rises proudly from the dust, shiny bodies camouflage themselves among architecture, and a piece of sculpture wants to return to the moon.
