After academic training in painting and drawing in Russia, design schools and studies in photography in Germany, Elizaveta has developed a very individual artistic practice based on the special property of the photographic medium to always connect to an existing reality. By first acting as a painter and sculptor, she creates a unique reality that is captured in her photographic images. In this way, she explores how classical artistic media influence each other and how the boundaries between them often dissolve nowadays. The viewer is confronted with textiles that are, however, abstracted from their haptic qualities by the means of photography without actually being abstract. The analysis of human perception and the desire for people to think more about our visual culture and its manipulation is the basis for Elizaveta Podgornaia's work.
